Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday | 1 to 4 p.m.
Through Quitting Time’s individual and group therapy and support services, patients learn skills that will empower them to stop using substances, avoid relapse, and successfully take control of their lives. The co-ed services also include medication evaluation and aftercare planning.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday | 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Women’s Day focuses on the unique needs of women with addiction issues, offering services like group therapy, case management, aftercare planning, and 12-step groups. Addresses topics like domestic violence, emotional abuse, and family conflicts, while helping women work toward their recovery goals. On-site child care is available.
Both IOP programs offer free lunch and transportation if needed.
Women’s Day also provides connection with Project Link, an outpatient treatment group that specializes in improving the health and well-being of pregnant women and women with young children. The group focuses on the impact substance abuse and mental health issues can have on pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Project Link meets Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to noon.

Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – (Formerly called Continuum)
Tuesday through Friday | 4 to 7 p.m.
Capacity: 10 patients
Helps patients identify strategies for maintaining sobriety and avoiding relapse, as well as supporting the transition back to work or school and rejoining family and friends. Features group psychoeducation and interpersonal therapy with topics focused on substance use disorders and relapse prevention.
Substance use IOP services are available at Meadows Edge Recovery Center in North Kingstown, in addition to Butler Hospital.
ADP: Addiction-Focused Day Program
Monday through Friday | 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Treatment for all substance use disorders (alcohol, opiate, stimulants, benzodiazepines) in an individualized as well as group setting. Treatment includes a full evaluation and generation of treatment plan by interdisciplinary team. Program is generally one to two weeks.
Stabilization and Recovery Program
This is Butler Hospital’s State-designated Center of Excellence program for the treatment of opiate abuse and dependency. This is an outpatient treatment program that offers Medication Assisted Treatment (suboxone).

Moms MATTER (Medication Assisted Treatment to Enhance Recovery)
Thursdays | 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Moms MATTER services include treatment of acute withdrawal for inpatients at Women & Infants Hospital, medication assisted treatment with buprenorphine for opioid use disorder, assistance in caring for babies with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) in collaboration with pediatricians at Women & Infants Hospital, and pain management for opioid-dependent women as an inpatient at Women & Infants Hospital.
