Release Date: 03/10/2016
In view of the news reports and social media attention to the situation with the obstetrics service at Memorial Hospital, we want to offer some assurance to our valued patients and their families, as well as to the community-at-large. At this point, there is no set date for the transition of the Memorial obstetrics unit. We need to work with state officials in reviewing and receiving approval on our plans before any changes can occur. We will continue to keep the Memorial unit open during this period, and will reach out to those patients scheduled to deliver at Memorial to advise them of any changes. In the meantime, maternity patients should continue to plan on delivering at Memorial.
We realize that the birth of a new baby should be a joyous time, and, if you have felt stress or anxiety about this situation, we deeply regret it. We are focused on providing a safe, positive and supportive environment for your birth experience, and all of us will be working with you to ensure it.
