Job Description
The Biller/Receptionist is responsible for billing procedures and visits through the multiple MHRI billing systems and will enter cardiology professional fees for the MHRI cardiologists. Also responsible for obtaining referrals for those procedures and visits as needed. Functions as the billing liaison to practice personnel, intermediaries, insurance carried patients, and guarantors. Serves as a resource for insurance and billing issues speaking with physicians, staff and patients about problems related to these areas. The Biller/Receptionist provides excellent customer service that exemplifies the mission of the Cardiovascular Center.  Greet and direct patients, families, visitors and other internal staff following customer service guidelines. Assist in coordinating patient flow and communication for the Center. Facilitate communication between patients and physicians or other clinical staff.  Answer incoming calls; triage calls and direct to appropriate staff; notify staff when patients arrive.  Assist with problem solving, verifying insurance eligibility, obtain on-line pre-authorizations.  Provide cross-coverage of other administrative support staff tasks, which may include the following: scheduling clinic or test appointments, preparing patient charts, mailing out patient packets, calling transport, requesting interpreters, confirming appointments, organizing and stamping patient arrival paperwork, copying, filing, distributing mail, obtaining patient care information & test results for appointment, and providing secretarial support to physicians and for clinics. Performs other related duties as required.

Days, Mon-Fri

Required Education
High School graduate or GED; secretarial school or billing school preferred.
1 – 2 years receptionist experience;
3-5 years experience in 3rd party medical billing. Working knowledge of A/R software programs    and PC skills.
Medical office experience strongly preferred.
Experience in 3rd party medical billing and understanding of the requirements for both  technical and professional charges.
Understanding of ICD-9 and 10 requirements.
