Job Description
SUMMARY Provide individual, group and family therapy for the Recovery Net and Substance Abuse Testing & Treatment programs, both of which are re-entry programs for people involved in the criminal justice system. Clients may have mental health disorders and/or substance use disorders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. -Provide orientation, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients at the Providence Center upon release from prison. -Evaluate psychological, social and physiological signs and symptoms of substance abuse. -Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines. -Develop a diagnostic evaluation of the client's mental health and/or substance use disorders. -Ensure a thorough clinical evaluation through referral for disorders outside of own expertise. -Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations. -Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements. -Serve as a role model to clients on a daily basis in such areas as daily living skills and decision making. -Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems. Monitor client progress: -Provide information regarding client condition as needed to fulfill insurance and DOC contract requirements. -Monitor client withdrawal and provide triage. -Match clients to appropriate levels of care and facilitate referrals for clients. -Match clients by demonstrating understanding of the established diagnostic criteria for mental health and substance use disorders. -Ensure clients comply with toxicology screens as mandated by parole and/or recommended on treatment plan, and observe urine screens for female parolees. Complete record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements: -Complete daily encounter forms. -Complete progress notes with appropriate format. -Develop and implement a clear, specific, behaviorally oriented treatment plan as required with ongoing consumer input and signature. -Complete required reports and evaluations. -Initial Assessments -Discharge plans General: -Treat clients with respect. -Follow required office procedures i n a cooperative manner. -Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, clients, community agencies and the public. -Establish and maintain productive and effective communications with clients, family members and staff. -Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff. -Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner. -Accept and use direction, constructive criticism, and supervision. Establish discharge planning as necessary: -Utilize available community resources in the recovery continuum. -Maintain active involvement in professional and lay mental health/substance abuse organizations within the community. Attend trainings, staff meetings, case presentations, conferences, etc. -Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended. -Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure. OCCASIONAL DUTIES: -Serve on appropriate Center committees.
Required Education
Masters Degree and license in Social work, Counseling, or related field preferred. Experience with co-occurring disorders required. Must have awareness of the general trends in confronting the problems of criminal justice involvement. LMHC or LICSW required. Valid drivers license and insured auto required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
