The Senior Hardware Technician provides overall help desk support as well as plans, installs and maintains software and hardware equipment for user groups. The incumbent determines needs and oversees installation of new or expansion of existing microprocessor-based computer systems and computer hardware. Implements requests for network changes, supports telecommunication systems, and coordinates computer-related failure repairs. Provides training and technical support to end users, including desktop applications, assists in the training and professional development of other staff members.
Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field with three to five years experience with various computer programs/applications, such as Word Perfect, Windows NT Workstation, E-mail, Excel, and other software packages, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of application of micro and or mini computers to business problems. Also requires a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in hardware installation and support. AT certification and supervisory experience highly desirable. Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and be proficient in the English language.
