Job Description
SUMMARY:

The Float Nurse provides clinical coverage to all programs throughout The Providence Center (TPC) in times of shortages or when  re-allocation  of resources  is needed.  The Float Nurse will work in coordination with  nursing leadership to ensure the  delivery of an excellent standard of care, which promotes independence and dignity and positively enhances the 
lives of our consumers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Provide clinical coverage to all programs throughout TPC as needed. Participate  in center committees  as assigned.
Collaborate with the ADON for issue resolutions and projects to improve work flow processes throughout  all programs at  TPC.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND  ABILITIES:

Knowledge of scope of practice of the registered nurse. Knowledge of and appropriate  application of the  nursing process.  Ability to assess  nursing needs of the acute and chronically mentally ill client.  Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external customers.

Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively. Able to communicate clearly with clients, staff, team and leadership. Able to  prioritize duties, treatment  and follow-up.  Able to navigate the organization to provide clinical coverage to all programs throughout TPC.

Able to complete assessments, plan of care, interventions, evaluations and re­ evaluations  of client status.

Serve as a role model to  staff.

Required Education
RI RN licensure. Bachelor's  Degree in Nursing preferred.  Minimum of 2 years as a registered nurse, preferably in psychiatric nursing. QMHP certification (or eligible to obtain).  Meet all requirements of the Clinical Ladder Ill designation within (timeframe) of appointment.
