When you come to the Care New England Spine Care Program, you will first see one of our primary spine practitioners (PSP), who is a specially-trained chiropractic physician. Many people associate chiropractic physicians with manipulation (“cracking”) of the back or neck. Manipulation is a useful therapeutic tool for some conditions but you do not have to receive manipulation. Your PSP has a variety of methods to help you.
You will be asked to fill out a few questionnaires that allow the PSP to get to know more about your problem and how it affects you. They also help the PSP monitor your progress over time.
The PSP will talk with you in detail about the problem and will then examine you to determine a diagnosis and make recommendations about the best way to help you. This may include:
You will probably see the PSP several times in the weeks after your first appointment and you may work with a physical therapist for a few sessions.
Many people develop some kind of spine problem at some point in their life. In most cases, the pain is not severe and resolves itself fairly quickly. However, there are times when the pain can be very intense and does not go away on its own.
