Life's hidden hazards

When we get into these lazy, hazy days of summer, it's easy to forget our troubles, spend hours in a hammock with a book or swimming at the shore, and live in the moment. But, wait, school is right around the corner and in addition to shopping for pencil cases and binders, you should also be checking your child's immunization records to make sure he's compliant with the law. In between sets of volleyball in the pool, print out a schedule from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and talk to the pediatrician.

While you're at it, check on your own immunizations. Adults are, unfortunately, not immune to potentially deadly diseases. Even if you have a fear of needles, you need to protect yourself and your family.
