  Event Details:  One in five Latina teens living in the US have attempted suicide. Luis H. Zayas, Phd, and Stavroula Kyriakakis, MSW, both of the Center for Latino Family Research and Washington University, will present. Participants will, ? Learn about the national epidemiology of youth suicidal behavior across ethnicities. ? Increase their knowledge of the psychological, social, familial, and cultural factors that create the conditions for the high rate of suicide attempts among adolescent Hispanic females. ? Be primed for adapting their clinical practice with Hispanic girls and their families who have suicidal backgrounds. Individual and family interventions will be highlighted. ? Gain an understanding of healthy and maladaptive relationship patterns among adolescent females with a suicide history and their parents.
