Event Details: |
Book signing and professional lecture on body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), a psychiatric disorder in which the affected person is excessively concerned about and preoccupied by an imagined or minor defect in their physical features. This can cause severe psychological distress that impairs occupational and/or social functioning, sometimes to the point of complete social isolation. It is estimated that one percent to two percent of the world's population meet the diagnostic criteria for BDD.
Participants will learn to:
- become familiar with recent research findings on BDD
- learn how to recognize and diagnose BDD
- become familiar with evidence on available treatment strategies for BDD, including pharmacologic approaches and cognitive-behavioral approach |
