Meet the Team
Robert M. Shalvoy, MD
Dr. Shalvoy is executive chief of orthopedics and sports medicine for Care New England and director of Affinity Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, he earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School and completed orthopedic surgery residency at Boston University Medical Center. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic for Sports Medicine. He is an assistant professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His interests include ACL injuries, complex knee ligament reconstructions, cartilage transplantation, and complex baseball throwing injuries.
Steve B. Behrens, MD
Dr. Behrens is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in trauma and sports medicine. He specializes in knee arthroscopy and lower extremity trauma. He earned his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Ross University School of Medicine, and completed an orthopedic surgery residency and trauma fellowship at Brown University. He completed a second fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Behrens has received several grants for his orthopedic research and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
Razib Khaund, MD
Dr. Khaund is director of sports medicine for Care New England. Board-certified in internal medicine, he earned a medical degree from the New Jersey Medical School. He completed a residency in internal medicine through Brown University and a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic for Sports Medicine. He is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His interests include the role of anti-inflammatory medicine in musculoskeletal medicine and sports-related concussions.
Jessica Morse, PA-C
Jessica Morse, PA-C is a certified physician assistant who joined our group in 2016 after completing her physician assistant education and training at MCPHS University in Worcester, MA. Prior to attending PA school, Jessica worked for Brown University’s pathology and laboratory medicine department researching cellular stress responses to DNA damage. She earned her bachelor of science in biological sciences from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI. A former Gatorade Player of the Year for girls’ volleyball in Rhode Island, Morse played collegiate rugby.
Richard Peloquin, PA-C
Richard earned a graduate degree in clinical health sciences as a physician assistant from the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at Penn State University. He practices emergency medicine and orthopaedic surgery. His areas of interest include throwing injuries, biomechanical analysis, knee ligament injuries, shoulder and elbow injuries in pitchers, and working with student trainers.
