Care New England & Butler Hospital Launch
Comprehensive Brain Health Information Website

In recognition of Mental Health Month, Care New England (CNE) and Butler Hospital launched a new health information website, The Southeastern New England Center for Brain and Behavioral Health, (carenewengland.org/mental-health.) The site offers a one-stop resource where the community can get valuable, reliable information about mental and behavioral health from the trusted experts at CNE.

Visitors to the site will find information on risk factors, symptoms, prevention tips, treatments and research for all major mental illnesses, including addictions, as well as memory and movement disorders. The site also includes a section on suggested questions people should ask their primary care providers.

With one out of four Rhode Islanders experiencing a mental illness in their lifetime, mental health was identified as a top priority in a Community Health Needs Assessment conducted by the Hospital Association of Rhode Island last year. “As part of our plan in response to the needs assessment, we tapped into the expertise at Butler Hospital and throughout CNE to create a trustworthy resource for the thousands of people in our community looking for information for themselves or loved ones struggling with mental illness and seeking better health,” said Patricia Recupero, JD, MD, president and CEO of Butler Hospital and executive vice president for Brain and Behavioral Health, CNE.

The interactive site provides confidential online screenings for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addictions, and PTSD, as well as a resource for reliable and comprehensive medication information, including descriptions on what each medication is used for and any dietary considerations and side effects. Southeastern New England’s Center for Brain and Behavioral Health also features a wellness section, including tips on how to stay healthy and a list of resources such as support groups hosted at Butler Hospital.
