Care New England Names Diane Lipscombe, PhD, to Board of Directors

Diane Lipscombe Care New England has announced the appointment of Diane Lipscombe, PhD, to the Care New England Board of Directors. Dr. Lipscombe, of Barrington, is a professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University where she has served on the faculty since 1990.

“We are pleased that Dr. Lipscombe accepted our invitation to join Care New England’s board as we continue to navigate significant changes in the health care landscape," said Dennis Keefe, president and CEO of Care New England. "Dr. Lipscombe’s experience and perspective as a teacher, researcher and administrator will prove invaluable as work toward ever increasing levels of academic excellence.”

Dr. Lipscombe teaches Advanced Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, co-directs the Bench to Bedside seminar series, and coordinates skills workshops for graduate students. Dr. Lipscombe was director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program (2005-2011), is chair of the Neuroscience Graduate Program Steering Committee, and is principal investigator of a major institutional pre-doctoral training grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She received the Harriet Sheridan Award for Distinguished Teaching (2009) and the Faculty Mentorship Award from the Graduate School (2010).

Dr. Lipscombe has served on many Brown committees, including as vice chair of the Academic Priorities Committee, as a member of the Scientific Publications Committee for the Society for Neuroscience, a member of the President’s Scientific Advisory Council, and on the executive committee for the Brown Institute for Brain Science. She was recently elected to the Tenure, Promotions, and Appointments Committee. She runs an active research lab that has been funded by the NIH for 20 years. She has authored numerous publications and given named lectures, most recently the Joan Mott Prize Lecture for the Physiological Society in the United Kingdom.
