Meet Some of Our Employees: Hilda, Women & Infants |

Hilda
Registered Nurse
High-Risk Pregnancy Unit
Personal: I live in Pawtucket with my husband and four children. When I’m not working, my life is centered on my kids – taking them to sports and to visit with our families.
Education: I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the University of Rhode Island and started working the night shift at Women & Infants on the unit for high-risk, expectant women in 1999.
My Work: My unit is dedicated to caring for women with high-risk pregnancies so my work is focused on monitoring areas of concern such as Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH), pre-term labor, gestational diabetes, or any other potential risks to their pregnancies or themselves. We also care for post-partum patients.
Best About My Job: I really like my unit because it’s a positive environment for both our patients and staff. It’s nice to be able to support a patient during her difficult pregnancy and then be able to see a good outcome. Patients are so appreciative of our care that they often send notes and photos of their children – even years later. I like working with the staff on my unit because we work as a team and always support each other. I never feel alone in any situation.
Best About Women & Infants: I’ve also worked in the float pool so I have met many people on different units, and they’re all supportive. One of the things I like best about working for Women & Infants is that there are usually opportunities to experience other areas of the hospital, if you want to.
