The Surgical Technologist, under the direction/supervision of the physician, assists in the pre-operative planning and preparation for sugical intervention. Ensures individualization to meet the needs of each patient and surgeon. Employing the principles of aseptic technique, the Surgical Technologist scrubs and assists the surgeons during the surgical procdure, and anticipates and responds to needs at the surgical field. *MON
Previous surgical experience in the surgical technician role required.
BLS required (American Heart Association)
Knowledge of aseptic principles; skills in technical aspects and manual dexterity necessary to perform at the surgical field; skills in organizing and setting priorities; ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with RNs and other disciplines. Requires self-motivation, commitment to continuing education and self improvement, must be proffesinoally accountable.
Lifting up to 10 lbs., and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as files, books, etc. Involves sitting, walking, stooping, standing and reaching. Required to lift, move, position, and transport patients. Ability to rotaate shifts.
