Job Description
The pharmacy tech works in the Pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist and performs a variety of technical and support tasks designed to assist pharmacist in the formulation, preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, and in keeping with the scope of services provided and in consideration to the age of the patients being served, prepares intravenous mixtures utilizing aseptic techniques in a controlled environment according to computer - generated and/or pharmacist approved formulation record, including proper labeling and expiration dating, prepares non-sterile pharmaceutical products according to computer-generated and/or pharmacist approved formulation record, including proper labeling and expiration dating, participates in quality assessment and quality management of the Pharmacy and hospital.
RI licensure

Pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Knowledge of brand and generic drug names required.

Special Qualifications
Ability to implement appropriate components of drug dispensing, ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers/other disciplines, knowledge of aseptic principles, technical skills to perform drug compounding procedures.
Required Education
HS diploma or equivalent. Completion of one to two years of college preferred. Successful completion of a board-approved pharmacy technician training program and/or successfully completed a board-approved examination. National pharmacy technician certification CphT preferred.
