Job Description
Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture on adults, children and infants.  Performs point-of-care testing.  Performs venipuncture for home draws/home care patients, performs patient registration, EKG's and other related duties as needed.
Experience

Training in a formal phlebotomy program that includes a minimum of 60 hours of didactic and 60 hours of clinical experience, or previous job experience as a phlebotomist.

Special Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, assess patient status; interpret appropriate information to identify patient requirements as described in departmental policies and procedures; organizational and priority setting skills, knowledge of general specimen processing procedures, fine motor coordination and good visual acuity to distinguish major colors.

Physical Requirements

Lifting up to 10 lbs.  and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as files, books, etc.  Involves, sitting, walking, stooping, bending and reaching.  Must be able to move readily from one location to another within and outside of the hospital, ability to work at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Must have driver's license, vehicle, and proof of vehicle insurance for home draws.  Bilingual - Spanish or Portuguese preferred.

Required Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Formal phlebotomy program education.
