Job Description
The RN in collaboration with the physician;
 Manages/Establishes workflow, procedures and protocols to help facilitate the smooth transition of through the Cancer Center (Infusion Center and Hem/Onc Clinic
 Develops implements and evaluates the plan of care for the Cancer Center (Clinic and Infusion patients and families).
 Coordinates the care provided by the Hematology/Oncology team during each office visit and assures appropriate follow-up between visits and /or referral to community agencies when required.
 The RN provides, counsels and teaches patients, families and significant others, and assists the medical staff with specific procedures as required. Provides patient education related to illness prevention and health maintenance.
 Ensures that staff follow practice guidelines as dictated in Hospital/Nursing Policies
 Provides clinical supervision of RNs / CNA’s in the practice.
 Works with Administrative Director and Hospital Administration to further develop and grow the Oncology service line *MON
Experience

 

Experience:     

3-5 years previous Oncology Experience (Inpatient/Outpatient/Infusion/etc.)

Cancer Center / Oncology Service Line or Other Management experience preferred

License/Registration/Certificate: Current R.I. RN licensure, OCN Certification, Chemo/Biotherapy certificate required.

Special Qualifications

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

Ability to apply the nursing process to the care of Hem/Onc patients.

Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other disciplines.

Organizational, priority setting, problem solving, and decision making skills/

Knowledge of TJC, COS, ASCO/ONS Rules & Regulations preferred

Required Education
Education: 
Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing, BSN or MSN preferred.
   

Experience:   

3-5 years previous Oncology Experience (Inpatient/Outpatient/Infusion/etc.)

Cancer Center / Oncology Service Line or Other Management experience preferred

License/Registration/Certificate: Current R.I. RN licensure, OCN Certification, Chemo/Biotherapy certificate required.
