The Research Breastfeeding Peer Counselor delivers the research intervention in accordance with protocol and Clinical Center planning. The incumbent provides breastfeeding instruction and assistance to postpartum women on an out-patient basis in the research study setting. The Research Breastfeeding Peer Counselor monitors research participant's breast-feeding techniques, addresses concerns of lactating women, and provides referrals for special needs of follow up to facilitate adherence and retention. Coordinates efforts with health care team and maintains related documentation and records.
High school diploma required, Associate's Degree preferred. Successful completion of approved Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) program. Current CPR certification required. Must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable insured transportation. Must have maternal/child health experience, and demonstrated ability to work with groups and individuals. Must be fluent in the English language.
