Job Description
SUMMARY To provide outpatient psychotherapy either at The Center or in the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program. Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers. ____Treat consumers with respect. ____Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations. ____Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV). ____Perform and record mental status examination. ____Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others. ____Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines. ____Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements. ____Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues. ____Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate. ____Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care. Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy. ____Treat consumers with respect. ____Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations. ____Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements. ____Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input. ____Apply knowledge of psychopathology and primary methodologies of psychotherapy. ____Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV). ____Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others. ____Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues. ____Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems. ____Provide brief psychotherapy if appropriate. ____Provide group therapy. ____Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate. ____Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care. Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care. ____Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health and/or substance abuse and other related community agencies. ____Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff. Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements. ____Complete daily activity logs. ____Complete initial assessment forms. ____Complete progress notes with appropriate format. ____Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input. ____Complete a clear, specific, behaviorally oriented treatment plan as required with consumer signature. ____Complete insurance documentation as required. ____Complete required reports and evaluations. ____Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner. Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences. ____Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended. ____Participate in the education of other Center staff. ____Attend mandatory inservice trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure. Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public. ____Communicate with various local agencies and other departments or teams at The Center. ____Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff. ____Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner. ____Benefit from constructive criticism. Serve as a resource to staff regarding the Hispanic/Latino community. ____Provide education and communicate on community resources and cultural matters. ____Interpret/translate both language and cultural concerns for staff and other community service providers, as appropriate. OCCASIONAL DUTIES: ____Serve on appropriate Center committees. ____Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.
Required Education
Masters degree in Social Work and relevant clinical experience. LICSW/LMHC with 5 year post licensure and LCDP required. Experience providing substance abuse treatment preferred. Insured auto and valid driver's license. Bilingual in Spanish is required.
