Dennis D. Keefe
President and Chief Executive Officer, Care New England

Dennis D. Keefe was named president and chief executive officer of Care New England in 2011. He came to Care New England from the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), the only public health care system in Massachusetts, where he served in a variety of capacities, including as its chief executive officer from 2002 to 2011. He also served as the commissioner of public health for the City of Cambridge during the same time period.

Mr. Keefe earned a bachelor of science degree in health sciences summa cum laude from Northeastern University, where he also earned a master’s of business administration in business/health care administration. He is an adjunct lecturer at Brown University, Department of Health Services, Policy and Practice and a past clinical instructor/ lecturer at Tufts University School of Medicine, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston University School of Public Health, and Northeastern University.

Chair of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, Mr. Keefe is on the boards of the Essential Hospitals Institute, Rhode Island Quality Institute, Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the State of Rhode Island’s Health Care Planning and Accountability Advisory Council and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Rhode Island’s Health Market and Strategic Initiatives Committee. He is chair of the 2015 Southern New England Heart Walk and chaired the 2013 March of Dimes March for Babies Walk. Mr. Keefe received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America in 2014.
