Susanna R. Magee, MD, MPH is director of the Maternal Child Health Program in the Department of Family Medicine at Memorial Hospital and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. After completing residency and a two-year Maternal Child Health Fellowship at Memorial in 2003, Magee joined the department as a clinical team leader in the Family Care Center and, subsequently, as fellowship director beginning in 2006. She is an attending physician on the medicine, neonatal and obstetrics services. She has published numerous articles regarding medical training in obstetrics for family medicine and has served as the medical consultant for multiple NIH grants regarding yoga and exercise interventions as preventive measures for postpartum depression. Magee is the medical director of The Rocking Chair Project, an effort supported by the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation aimed at nurturing new mothers and educating young physicians about home visits for newly postpartum families. She has received multiple awards for teaching from the medical school and the Department of Family Medicine, and currently serves as president of the medical staff at Memorial and on Care New England’s Credentials Committee.
